Campbell Sports Minute – Starting QB

Campbell Football has named redshirt freshman quarterback Elijah Burress the starting quarterback for Thursday night’s season opener vs. Bluefield starting at 7 p.m.

Bostick’s Big Plans

Senior linebacker Daniel Bostick wants to remain a force in the middle of the Campbell Football defense. After posting 36 tackles last season, starting the first six games of the year, Bostick returns healthy and ready to lead his squad in 2016.

In our Candid Camel interview, Bostick discusses the strength of the Camels’ 2016 defense, his role as a leader and the Fighting Camels championship goals.

Campbell Football completed Fall Camp on Thursday night and now get down to business in game week vs. Bluefield College.

First things first … the Fighting Camels finished out team photos for the official team program in front of Barker-Lane Stadium.

The 2016-17 Fighting Camels return seven starters on offense and five on defense along with 32 total letter winners from last season. Campbell’s six-game home schedule starts Thursday night, September 1 concluding on Saturday, November 19 vs. San Diego.

De’Shawn Jones Candid Camel

All-Pioneer Football League tailback De’Shawn Jones wants to break his own single-season rushing record, powering the Fighting Camels offense for his senior season.

Jones, Campbell’s all-time leading rusher, enters the 2016 campaign confident after ranking 18th in the FCS last season for rushing yards per game. The Fighting Camels workhorse back has picked up 1,991 yards on the ground over his career, hoping to help guide the Campbell Camels to their first winning season since 2011.

Featuring an offensive line with two returning All-PFL performers, Jones trusts his protection and feels the Fighting Camels could be even more explosive this season. Here’s De’Shawn Jones in his own words for our exclusive Candid Camel interview.

The Campbell Football team kickstarts official Game Week preparation at Barker-Lane Stadium after the conclusion of Thursday night’s Fan Fest. After completing the three week Fall Camp, the Fighting Camels now host Bluefield on Thursday night, September 1.
