Campbell Women’s Lacrosse secured its first win over long-time rival Coastal Carolina Wednesday night, as Erica Hitch scored the game-winning goal for the Fighting Camels in what amounted to a competitive 8-7 game in Conway, South Carolina.
The celebration ensued (above) on the teal colored turf as the Fighting Camels are now 3-1 in Big South Conference play – moving ever closer to hosting their first-ever tournament game.
Loren Day, who entered as the nation’s leading scorer, added two goals for Campbell and the game-tying assist, feeding Erica Hitch in the final nine minutes – who later scored the game winner.
For the first time in program history, Campbell defeated their rivals at Coastal Carolina, bouncing back from last year’s overtime loss in the opening round of the Big South Tournament.
The Fighting Camels return to action this Saturday here at Barker-Lane Stadium as they host the Liberty Lady Flames starting at 12 p.m. Fans can watch the game live on the Big South Network and follow @GoCamelsWLAX on Twitter for updates.
