Senior Class Citizen

Campbell Baseball 1B/DH Matt Parrish continues to accumulate the highest academic honors across the board, including a spot as one of 30 candidates nationally for the 2016 Senior Class Award.

Parrish, the two-time Academic All American, was named Second Team All-Big South as a designated hitter last season, while boasting an impressive .366 batting average this season.

The award features accolades on and off the diamond, an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, focusing on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders.

The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot and the two-time Academic All-American hopes to reach the final stages of the voting process, which will be officially announced during the 2016 College Baseball World Series in Omaha.

The Fighting Camels return to action on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. from Jim Perry Stadium vs. Rider as fans can check out Parrish and the squad live on the Campbell Digital Network.
