First Pitch Dinner

Campbell Baseball hosted their annual First Pitch Dinner inside McCall Gym on Saturday night, one week prior to the start of the 2016 regular season here in Buies Creek.

The Fighting Camels were accompanied by three former players, now pursuing careers in minor league baseball: featuring Cedric Mullins (Baltimore Orioles), Ryan Thompson (Houston Astros) and Steven Leonard (Colorado Rockies) in attendance.

Along with the traditional festivities, Director of Athletics Bob Roller announced the plans for construction of the Jim and Daphne Perry Pavilion, which will begin following the 2016 season – just as Campbell will be traveling to Puerto Rico for a five day tour featuring games against a pair of Puerto Rican national teams.

The Fighting Camels open the regular season this Friday for a three game series against Miami (Ohio) inside Jim Perry Stadium.

Over the last four seasons, the Camels own 163 wins, with eight All-America selections, four Academic All-Americans, nine professional contracts, including a record three MLB Draft picks in 2015, 25 all-conference picks, as well as an outstanding 3.02 team GPA.

Campbell was honored to welcome Brandon Maye, a former Clemson football All-American, best-selling author and motivational speaker, who gave the keynote address and posted his sincerity for being involved at the First Pitch Dinner on social media.
