Freshman of the Year

Redshirt freshman LB Jack Ryan was named Freshman Defensive Player of the Year on Monday by the Pioneer Football League.

The 6-foot-2 native of Matthews, N.C. finished second in tackles (66), while leading all freshman with 47 tackles in Pioneer Football League play this season, anchoring the PFL’s best-ranked defense.

Ryan posted his best game of the season vs. San Diego, leading his team with 12 tackles and one interception.

The conference also announced that All-League selections will be released Tuesday, which could lead to even more postseason accolades for the Fighting Camels following a 5-6 season.
