The No. 7 seed Campbell women’s volleyball team looks to continue their momentum from a straight-set upset win over No. 2 seed High Point on Thursday night, now battling No. 6 seed Radford with a trip to the Big South Conference championships on the line.
The last time Campbell reached the conference finals was 1989 and the journey to this year’s championship means overcoming a strong Radford squad that beat the Fighting Camels twice during the season, featuring a dramatic 5-set match at Radford.
One player to watch for Campbell will be senior Katelyn Layden, who notched 22 kills and 20 digs in two matches against Radford. Tonight’s winner will qualify for the Big South Tournament championship game on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m.
Campbell was led by a balanced effort as the Fighting Camels limited the Panthers to a .167 hitting percentage, featuring six blocks from Jenny Tait. Senior Mary Crema led Campbell with 18 digs, while freshman Rachel Harty chipped in seven kills and two blocks.
Friday night’s match will be streamed live on the Big South Network starting at 7 p.m. Make sure to follow @GoCamelsVB for updates throughout the match from High Point University.
