Former Camel Up For MiLB Relief Pitcher of the Year

The Fighting Camels have seen one of their own, Matt Marksberry, take the illustrious step from the ranks of MiLB to the MLB. Now Jake Smith, another one of the rising Campbell players in the minors, has been nominated for the MiLB Relief Pitcher of the Year.

Smith pitched in 56 games this season for Class A Advanced Giants and is now one of 10 finalists for the MiLBYs Awards following an impressive campaign (4-4, 2.35 ERA) where he struck out 118 batters in 84 1/3 IP of work, while posting 16 saves in 19 chances.

The award is handed out by fan vote, giving you the Fighting Camels an opportunity to select Smith right here through Oct. 27.
