Campbell Women’s Soccer built upon a strong non-conference slate with an impressive 1-0 win over Charleston Southern in the Big South Conference opener on Wednesday night.
Thanks to a crucial match-winning goal in the 37th minute from senior Marissa Hartert, her first goal of the season, the Fighting Camels (6-3, 1-0) now host UNC Asheville (7-2, 1-0) in what becomes a very intriguing matchup on Saturday night at 5 p.m.

The Fighting Camels have also won each of their last three matches at Eakes Athletic Complex, earning the best RPI of any squad in the Big South. You have to look back to the 2011 season, when Campbell reached the finals of the BSC Tournament, to find the last time that the Fighting Camels started a season this well on the pitch.
Here are the highlights from last night’s victory.
